Introduction
We have tried to make ‘Where’s Good to Eat?’ as intuitive as possible to use and most people familiar with websites, especially ones based on databases, will need little help. It is, essentially, a list of eating places, by category (e.g. Cafes), against which the public may enter recommendations and comments. Additional information and functions are also provided, via hyperlinks, to assist the user as described below.
Your Locations
The Your Locations function, on the Establishments toolbar, helps you limit the number of Establishments displayed, at any one time, to those you are interested in. There are over 100,000 places in the 'Where's Good to Eat?' database and it would be very time-consuming to search them every time you used the system.
The first time you use 'Where's Good to Eat?' you will be asked to set your Location using a simple postcode/map function. You can set up to 10 Locations this way and they are stored in a "cookie" on your computer for when you next use the system.
One of the Locations must be your Primary Location which is used to set the default list of Establishments displayed to you. You can add and delete Locations to provide an optimum set of areas across which to monitor eating out, covering locations for home, work and shopping or leisure.
The radius you set for a Location (max 30 km/miles) determines the number of Establishments displayed. In urban areas this may be very high, making it difficult to find places in the listings. Please experiment with the Your Locations function to find the best combination for your needs.
Please note that 'cookies' can be deleted by software on your PC and may require resetting. If the problem persists, please seek appropriate technical advice.
