WHERE'S GOOD TO EAT?' MOBILE
If you have an iPhone simply search for "Where's Good to Eat" using Google and the site will recognize your device and automatically serve you the mobile version.
Initial Access

Each time you use 'Where's Good to Eat?' mobile you will be asked if you would like to use your phone’s current location. If you select “Don’t Use” you will be asked for a post code on which to base searches. This can be changed at any time during the session using the
Change Location button on the
Home screen.
Home Tab

The Home tab shows the location currently set for searches and you can use your phone’s map function, if available, to check this using the
Show on Map button.
The
I want to find button allows you to select individual types of establishment (e.g. Restaurants, cafes,..) and the
I want to eat button allows you to select specific food types (e.g. Indian, Chinese, etc...). Please note that some establishments do not have a food type listed, in which case, your search may not return any records. Leaving the setting as “Don’t Mind” will display all food types.
The remaining buttons indicate the search parameters that will be used to get a list of eating places, centred on the location shown
Within the radius you define, when you click the
Go button.
Venue Tab

The Venue tab is where search results are displayed after clicking the
Go button and they are retained when returning to the Home tab, until you click
Go again. The total number of records returned by the search is shown although only the first 20 will be listed with a
View More button at the foot of the list.
The name of each establishment is shown with its food type, if applicable, as well as the distance from the centre of the postcode area. The icons and numbers show the number of comments for each rating as follows:

Clicking on the
right arrow icon displays the list of comments list for the establishment.
Alphabetic Search

You can filter (restrict) the list of Venues to those of the first letter of the Establishment Name, using the
Alphabetic button. This presents the letters of the alphabet on the right from which you can select one to limit the results on screen. Clicking the
Basic button will return you to the original list.
Establishment Comments

The Establishment comment list shows the address and postcode as well as listing the initial few lines from each comment. Comments are in newest first order. Clicking on the
right arrow displays the comment in full, plus the date of the visit and the nickname of the reviewer.
The buttons at the bottom of the screen allow you to
Call - the establishment directly from your phone (provided the number is on the database and your phone is correctly configured),
Map – display a map showing the location for the postcode of the establishment and get
Directions – using the phone’s mapping function.
The
Rate button takes you to the Comment Entry screen.
Comment Entry

Using this screen, you can enter a rating and comment for the establishment, up to a maximum of 250 characters, before clicking
Submit. The date used for the comment will be the current date.
You must include a valid email address and nickname. If the nickname is already in use then your comment will be rejected and you will be asked to try again. The link between your email and nickname is kept confidential and 'Where's Good to Eat?' does not share this data with any other organisations or individuals.
All reviews are moderated (checked) by an Editor before being released onto the site, so there will always be a short delay before the comment is published. A review may be rejected because of inappropriate language, commercial bias or personal remarks.
