GROW-YOUR-OWN REVOLUTION - THE FORGE, CAMDEN
4th February 2012, 10am – 3pm

The Forge in Camden is delighted to announce a Farmer’s Market event on 4th February 2012.

Located in the heart of bustling Camden on Delancey Street, The Forge and sister restaurant The Foundry are joined by a central glass courtyard, which is flooded by sunlight and boasts an impressive vertical garden from floor to ceiling with a multitude of plants and herbs, that is used in the fresh dishes and cocktails in the restaurant.

The Farmer’s Market will offer a range of delicious home-baked treats and produce from local suppliers, all in the warmth of the indoor courtyard. Riverford organic fruit and vegetables will also host a stand with an array of regional farm produce, and advice on seasonal ingredients.

And for those who have always dreamed of ‘the good life’ with their own allotment or city window box, there is a full complementary program of events for growing your own flowers, fruit or veg:

10.30am – A Planting Session for Budding or Ripened Gardeners:

Plant the first of this year’s seedlings in The Forge’s indoor courtyard space, with hints and tips on how to nurture growth. A delightful education for children, they can mark their own seed pot and visit each week to see how their seedling has grown. Once the frost has left, your hardy bloom can be brought home to plant out.

12pm – Seasonal Lunch With Musical Accompaniment

A seasonal lunch will be served with two courses for £10 and a child’s menu for £5, using delicious fresh and locally sourced ingredients.

Lunch will be accompanied by music from Atlantic B3, the Hammond organ playing trio, who bring their swinging rhythmic sound of original blues and rare groove soul to your lunch, featuring music from their aptly named new album ‘Farmer’s Market!’

1.45pm - Gardener’s Question Time - hosted by Mike Jackson of the Camden Garden Centre and Paul Jardine of the Riverford Box Scheme

Hosted by the Camden Garden Centre, this is an opportunity to ask all your gardening conundrums. Got an infested or ailing plant? Bring it in to get an expert’s opinion on how to remedy the problem for a small donation of 50p to the CGC Charity, which offers training, educational opportunities and employment.

Entry is FREE and families are welcome.
