Stylish bar and restaurant sets London alight with flambé menu

Sideburns, boil-in-a-bag dinners, bell-bottoms and Smash…there are some fads better left in the 1970’s. It wasn’t all bad though, it was also the era of the flambé, and the drift near Liverpool Street is bringing back this welcome trend by introducing a dedicated menu at £27.95 for three-courses, or £45.95 when paired with cocktails.

flambe2.bmpBegin with a tasty starter from the à la carte menu before moving onto the fiery mains. Watch the flames unfurl as your dedicated chef adds a touch of brandy to the pan, along with mushrooms, cream and onions to create a Beef Stroganoffpacked with lots of flavour. Or choose the classic Steak Diane, with a dash of cognac creating the pyrotechnics when poured into a rich sauce. Fish fans can turn up the heat with sizzling scampi in a delicious cheesy Mornay sauce. Round off the evening with a fabulously retro Crepe Suzette or Banana Flambé.

Embrace the 1970’s cocktail culture, by pairing each course with a specially created cocktail. But forget Singapore Slings, Tequila Sunrises and Harvey Walbangers and think spices, foam and even more flames. The creative menu includes the Flaming Your Thai – 5-year-old plantation rum mixed with dry Curaçao, pink grapefruit, orgeat syrup, egg white and orange bitters topped with flaming limes; and the Starry Scamp – Chardonnay, Tanqueray Gin and crème de peche finished with a cardamom foam. The pièce de résistance is the show stopping Blood Orange Blazer. Watch as our expert mixologist plays with fire by pouring a long stream of flaming cognac back and forth between a pair of metal mugs before adding dry Curaçao, blood orange and a touch of cinnamon.
