YOUNG'S ARE ROWING FOR GOLD
Pub Manager Takes the Olympic Flame on the Thames
As the London 2012 games get officially underway, Young’s pub manager Rob Smith is making history as he takes to the river as part of the historic flotilla following the Royal Barge Gloriana on the final leg of the Olympic torch relay.
He joins the brigade as part of the team rowing The Royal Shallop ‘Jubilant’, travelling between Hampton Court and Putney, passing Rob’s pub The White Cross. Built in 2002 for the Queen's Golden Jubilee by Mark Edwards of Richmond, who also built the Gloriana, the Jubilant remains a big part of the Richmond river frontage.
Patrick Dardis, Young’s Retail Director, said:
“We are extremely proud of Rob and his involvement in such an historic event in thehistory of the Olympic games. A favourite with the locals and staff at The White Cross, everyone at Young’s is behind him all the way as he embarks on this once in a lifetime voyage”.
Why not show you support for Rob and the rest of the team and head down to The White Cross from 8am for breakfast and drinks, including an exclusive champagne brunch complete with a prime view of the river from the banks of the Thames.
