Bridgewater Hotel (Punch Taverns)
23 Barton Road, Worsley, Manchester, M28 2PD

This beautiful hotel is opposite the canal in Worsley. We arrived just after 7pm and parked easily in the large car park. We had ordered our meal at the bar within a few minutes. The bar staff allowed my little girl to swap out some ingredients in both her main course and dessert. I asked for extra gravy with my main which was a bargain 59p. The waiter even offered to bring our drinks to the table which he did within a couple of minutes. My little girl asked for a children’s activity pack which was promptly brought over to her. This pack had changed from the last time we had eaten there which was great as my little girl had plenty of new activities to keep her amused.
The starters came out in under 10 minutes. My starter was garlic mushrooms on a slice of garlic bread, very tasty and a good sized portion. My little girl had a generous serving of tomato soup with a slice of bread cut in to two. The starters were quickly cleared away and the mains brought out.
The main courses were on a fantastic 2 meals for £10 deal. One was a chicken burger with chips, onion rings, vegetables and mayonnaise. This came out on a huge plate, piping hot with a very generous portion of mayonnaise and was difficult to finish. The other was sausage, peas, mash and gravy. This meal was very tasty and filling. My little girl had eaten so much bread that we had to negotiate how many mouthfuls of mac n cheese with baked beans she would have in order to get her dessert. The waitress came to our table part way through the meal to check how the food was and she willingly participated in the number of mouthfuls negotiations. The staff are wonderful and very patient with children. Our waitress even came back to chat to us after our main courses.
My daughter’s dessert was a chocolate sundae. It came minus the cream and chocolate sauce as requested. It was a massive portion and she did not finish it. The adults were too full at this point to squeeze in a dessert.
Overall the service was fantastic and the staff could not do enough for us. The whole meal with drinks came to just over £27.00. The waiting staff were quick to clear tables between courses and customers and were diligent about cleaning the tables with the spray they use and sweeping up food mess. It was a lovely meal in very pleasant surroundings.
