Oatie Breakfast Pots
MOMA
First, why Breakfast?
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
Breakfast literally means “breaking the fast” and should provide approximately 20-25% of our daily nutritional requirements. However, it’s the meal that many of us are less likely to plan, often skip and can be the least nutritionally balanced meal of the day...
A few key facts about breakfast:
* Kick starts your metabolism, getting fuel to your body & brain
* Improves your performance in the morning - Studies suggest that skipping breakfast places the body in a state similar to prolonged fasting which not only impairs nutritional status but has a significant impact on performance, including perception, thinking, reasoning, and remembering
* Avoids mid-morning snacking on bad food
* Helps you manage your weight - Studies have shown that people that eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight than those who don’t.
* A man should have 600 calories, and a woman 500 calories for breakfast
Moma breakfast pots are:
Healthy – Low fat (less than 3g per 100g is considered low fat), with probiotic yoghurt to aid digestion
Natural – No added flavours, colours or preservatives
Full of Energy – Wholegrain oats help control cholesterol, low GI means they are absorbed slowly by the body helping you stay full for longer
Convenient - Ready to eat, and with spoon included.
But what do they taste like?

The first one I tried was the
Spiced Orange and Cinnamon Oatie Breakfast – brought back for the winter as a seasonal offering of “fresh zesty orange and spicy cinnamon mixed with low-fat probiotic yogurt, and jumbo oats soaked in apple juice”. This was a filling and tasty breakfast that I enjoyed, although I did find the texture rather gluey and the cinnamon hardly discernable. But, that’s a personal opinion, and it certainly did the job.
Next tested was the
Apple and Peach Oatie Breakfast – this was another satisfying and filling meal, but I found the consistency also rather sticky and no distinguishable flavours apart from generally fruity oats, despite obvious chunks of fruit. Nevertheless, it was really quick, easy and convenient, I enjoyed it, and it saw me through to lunchtime.
My following breakfast was the
Strawberry and Banana Oatie Breakfast – again enjoyable, again filling and satisfying, but again – not discernably either of the flavours on the pack.

But don’t take my criticisms as a negative review. These MOMA breakfast pots are great for convenience and effective for satisfying hunger pangs throughout the morning, and they taste good too. It’s just that, for me, there wasn’t a lot of difference between the flavours – others maybe have more discerning palates!
MOMO Breakfast pots are conveniently available at selected railway stations and aeroplanes as well as the usual store and café outlets throughout the country – Prices start from £2.
