PROVAMEL’S ‘BOTANICAL’ RANGE GETS A ZESTY BOOST
WITH NEW ORANGE AND REDBUSH FLAVOUR
Provamel has launched an interesting Orange and Redbush flavour fusion – the latest addition to its ‘botanical’ range of soya yoghurts which hit shelves last year.
Bringing together natural herbal remedies with great-tasting fruits, the botanical range was the first ever yoghurt of its kind, with its unique Apple and Green Tea, and Lime and Lemon Balm dairy-free flavour combinations. Orange and Redbush is set to follow suit with the flavours of zesty oranges and aromatic Redbush.
Commonly consumed as a tea, Redbush, or Rooibos, is known for its high level of antioxidants and is packed with vitamins and minerals. Redbush has traditionally been used to help treat a variety of health conditions, from skin allergies, stress and sleep problems to indigestion.
They use the goodness of the whole soya bean to ensure a great source of protein, soluble fibre and vitamins. For those with a lactose intolerance or an allergy to cows’ milk protein, soya is dairy-free and as a result, completely suitable for their diet. More and more people with and without allergies are including soya in their diet in order to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Although I have no particular dietary requirements and have no allergies, I was still keen to try this interesting combination – but I have to say that although the pot looked fresh and attractive, the appearance of the yoghurt itself looked less so! But I appreciate the reason for these healthy products looking more ‘natural’ and less visually appealing.
Eaten by the spoonful, this initially tasted smooth but with an underlying citrus sharpness. Very nice – and different. After a few spoonsful, the redbush flavour seemed to come to the fore – not really to my taste although that was just a personal thing. There will be those who like that flavour.
Next I tried it with some fruit, in my porridge. Again, a bit different, and nice for a change.
All-in-all I would say a pleasant and interesting alternative to the usual yoghurts, and usable in exactly the same ways. Extremely useful for those following limited diets or wanting the botanical benefits, and an interesting change for those who require neither but just like to try something different.
Provamel’s new Orange and Redbush flavour Yoghurt complements the existing range of plant-based products in the organic Provamel range, which includes soya milks, oat and almond milks, soya alternatives to yogurt, soya shakes, desserts, cream and custard, and is now available from all independent and major health food stores with an RRP of £1.55 for 500g.
