THE CHEESE HOUSE
New Authentic West Country Cheddar
The Cheese House is a new brand of West Country Farmhouse Cheddar launched by Denhay Farms, with a name chosen to reflect the traditions and time-honoured skills used to produce authentic Cheddar.
The packaging looks attractively rustic with a ‘brown paper’ effect wrapper, but also with “The Cheese House” logo which looks like a seal of approval.
This cheese is produced by Simon Hill and his team at Denhay Farm in Bridport, Dorset, using only milk from the farm’s Freedom Food Assured herds and using the time-honoured and traditional method of turning the curd by hand, to create the firm-bodied but creamy Cheddar with a savoury flavour. Simon is responsible for all aspects of the production, from producing the milk from the farms’ Freedom Food Assured herds to the making and maturing of the cheese in the cheese store. This produces the unique flavour of The Cheese House Cheddar.
Commenting on The Cheese House, Marketing Director Richard Hogg said, “We are very excited to launch a new cheese brand and believe The Cheese House will become a favourite for those who enjoy a distinctive rich and creamy savoury Cheddar. By launching The Cheese House we are committed to protecting the authentic taste of West Country Cheddar.”
And indeed this cheese has a strong rich flavour. With the first taste, you expect this cheese to bite back – but although it is powerful and distinctive, the after taste is mellow. I enjoyed it with fresh crusty bread and grapes, my son as the old favourite - cheese on toast, and my friend enjoyed it equally well in a summer salad.
Thumbs up from us all!
