In our May newsletter we reported that the Page Views total (i.e. the total number of pages viewed by the public) was over 888,000. We now know that June’s total has exceeded that by some way, at 1,182,000, taking 'Where's Good to Eat?' past that all-important one million page mark for the first time.
This is a truly astounding figure for a web site that is both highly specialised and limited in scope to a small geographic area. It is, we believe, a measure of the site’s effectiveness that indicates regular use by a large proportion of the Island’s diners, who clearly value the information they find there.
We await July’s totals with baited breath.
Plans for the UK roll-out of 'Where's Good to Eat?' are progressing well and we will soon be asking for help to spread the word. Once the 'Where's Good to Eat?' UK database is established we will be asking Isle of Man diners to get UK friends and relatives to input recommendations and comments about eating out in their own locality, so that they can build the kind of diner community we have here.
We feel sure that, like us, you are proud of what has been achieved with
'Where's Good to Eat?' on the
Isle of Man and that, as part of the original diner community, you will want to promote the site to
UK dine
rs. Getting localities across the
UK to replicate the public spirited approach of the
Island’s dine
rs and create their own information sharing communities will be a challenge but we are confident it can be achieved.
Egon But Not Forgotten

The death of Egon Ronay last month gave us a salutary reminder of just how far UK eating out has come in the last 40 years. Read our tribute to him here…
